How to remove rust from stainless steel
SoSafe is often asked “how to remove rust and rust stains from stainless steel without damaging the stainless steel?” We say “easy!”
Different grades of stainless steel have different grades of resistance to rust staining or tea leafing, caused by oxidization. Lower grades of stainless steel tend to stain faster. You can use SoSafe Metal Bright to clean and pacify the surface.
How to remove rust from stainless steel
- Wear safety goggles and gloves.
- Wipe surface with a rag / scourer.
- Apply SoSafe Metal Bright to rust stain / tea leafing.
- Use a sponge or low abrasive scourer to coat the effected area.
- Wait 5 – 10 minutes.
- Apply a little more Metal Bright to lubricate the surface between the low abrasive scourer / sponge.
- Rub the surface in a light circular motion, the stain will release.
- Rinse with water & dry.
- (OPTION) To protect surface, follow up by wiping over surface with SoSafe Stainless Steel Polish.
